Berlin Blues History
The Berlin Lions Club, founded the Blues Festival in 2001 to help fund a local Boundless Playground called "Friendship Place" after efforts were begun by Berlin resident Matthew Cavedon to build a playground accessible to all children, regardless of their abilities. Since 2002, Berlin Lions have donated all proceeds from the Berlin Blues Festival to the Lions Low Vision Center. "Lionisim is all about helping the community become a better place for everyone. Blues is all about making people feel better about their environment through songs and lyrics. This benefit Blues Festival is all about this combination of Lionisim and Blues to help those that need it most" said Entertainment Chairmen Tom Retano. "Assistance from the Lions Low Vision Center is about as close as it gets to the title of the old classic blues song "Giving Eyesight To the Blind".
